Woman wants change of venue in cooking oil death trial

A woman accused of using hot cooking oil in the death of her husband wants her retrial moved out of Hancock County.

Brian Alexander, attorney for Edna Mae Sanders, says the motion for a change of venue cites the extensive news coverage the case has received. A judge has not ruled on the motion.

Sanders was released from prison in April after the state Court of Appeals threw out her murder conviction and ordered a new trial.

Sanders spent nearly five years in jail after being convicted and Alexander says he believes it would be difficult to get an impartial jury in Hancock County.

Her trial is scheduled for Oct. 12 in Hancock County Circuit Court.
